What are electrolytes?

Electrolytes are charged minerals that regulate how your body holds and moves fluid, fires nerve signals, and contracts muscle. Without them, water alone cannot properly hydrate you.
The core electrolytes and what they do:
- Sodium controls fluid balance outside your cells and is the primary electrolyte lost through sweat. It is the key that triggers the transporter your body uses to absorb other minerals and compounds, including creatine.
- Potassium manages fluid balance inside your cells and works in direct opposition to sodium to keep both sides of the equation stable. Critical for heart function and muscle contractions.

Why the sachet format matters

Knowing you need electrolytes is the easy part. The harder question is which format actually works for your life. Sachets, dissolvable tablets, large tubs, and pre-mixed sports drinks all claim to solve the same problem. They don't deliver it equally.
Sachets vs. dissolvable tablets

Dissolvable tablets are compact and popular, but the format comes with real trade-offs.
Dose control is fixed and inflexible. A tablet is a single unit, and most are formulated for a specific volume of water, typically 500ml. Add more water and the formula is diluted. Use less and you risk a concentrated, overly salty or bitter drink. Sachets dissolve into whatever volume you choose, which means you control the strength.
Electrolyte concentrations are typically lower. Tablets are limited in what they can pack into a dissolvable format without compromising taste or fizz. Fizz can be an issue. Sugar content is high. Most sports drinks are built around carbohydrate and sodium, with the electrolyte profile being secondary to taste and shelf appeal.
